The Administrative Medical Assistant training program is designed to equip the student with the skills and knowledge necessary to comprehend the medical records system and billing process, as well as assist in managing the administration of a medical practice. The student will learn and develop skills such as compiling and maintaining medical records of hospital and clinic patients, reviewing medical records for completeness and accuracy, and setting up and maintaining filing systems. Students in the Administrative Medical Assistant training program will learn to file the HCFA 1500 claim form manually and by computer and the practical application of CPT-4, ICD-9, and HCPCS codes on coding and insurance claim forms. Student will also learn basic medical skills such as vital signs, Venipuncture, and patient charting and triage. A graduate of the Administrative Medical Assistant training program will be qualified to obtain an entry-level job as a medical records technician or medical coding and billing technicians; as well as a medical administrative assistant in places such as doctors' offices, clinics, hospitals, nursing and personal care agencies, and some federal government offices. Each Administrative Medical Assistant training program graduate will be awarded a diploma upon successful completion of all subjects.
